La Spaziale LUCCA A53 Mini - Troubleshooting Machine Tripping the GFCI

If your A53 Mini is tripping your GFCI outlet, follow along with these steps to determine what the cause of the issue is.

When machine is plugged in: If the GFCI is tripped as soon as the machine is plugged in, the SSR may be the faulty part and may need to be replaced. Alternatively, there may be a wire grounding out somewhere within the machine that needs to be found. If this is the case contact us at support@clivecoffee.com

When machine is turned on:

If the machine trips the GFCI when you turn the machine on, the faulty part is likely the fill solenoid or within the coffee boiler triac. If it happens immediately when turning the machine on, then the fill solenoid might be the issue.

From here, you'll need to remove the panels of the machine to continue troubleshooting.

If the machine trips the GFCI a few moments after it's turned on, it's likely somewhere along the coffee boiler triac. By unplugging the following things one at a time and turning the machine on, you can determine which part is faulty. Once you find the part that makes the machine not trip the GFCI when turned on, you've found the culprit. Before touching any wires, unplug the machine from the wall. Then plug it back in to test it.

*NOTE: If your machine is in 20 amp mode, you will need to also check the steam boiler places listed below as the machine will fire all things up at the same time in 20 amp mode.

After coffee boiler heats up:

If your machine heats up to the proper coffee boiler temperature and then trips the GFCI, you will likely find the problem component within the heating triac of the steam boiler. You will know the coffee boiler is fully heated when the numeric lights on the control panel stop flashing and remain solid. Follow along with these steps to find the issue by unplugging one piece at a time, turning the machine on to test if it trips the GFCI, and then plugging it back in to move onto the next part. Once you find the part that makes the machine not trip the GFCI when turned on, you've found the culprit. Before touching any wires, unplug the machine from the wall. Then plug it back in to test it.

If none of the above are causing the machine to trip, there is likely a wire within the machine that has a split casing and is grounding out on the frame of the machine. You will need to locate the wire and fix/replace it. Contact us at support@clivecoffee.com with any questions.
